Obituary

George Mike Lucas
(June 16, 1969 - October 29, 2018)


George Michael "Mike" Lucas, 49, of Huntington, passed away at home on Monday, October 29, 2018.  George was known as Mike Lucas to friends and family.  Mike will be most remembered for his cheerful and playful nature, his friendly personality, and his genuine kindness to all who crossed his path.  Mike was born on June 16, 1969 in Huntington, WV, the son of late Pauline Lucas. Mike grew up in Cove Gap, WV as a young boy with his late grandparents, George and Bertie “Adkins” Ross.  Mike was a 1987 graduate of Huntington High School where he excelled in athletics, a first runner up for the WV State Wrestling Championship and a varsity quarterback for the HHS Pony Express. Mike entered the U.S. Army after high school and was a veteran of the first Gulf War.  Mike ran a drywall business in Columbus, Ohio until he became disabled. Mike was preceded in death by his special aunts, Dolores Morris and Rose Mary Stone, his cousin, Larry Morris, and his uncle who he considered a father, Paul “Dexter” Miller, all of Huntington. Survivors include a son, Andrew Michael Lucas of Huntington, a sister, Paula Lucas of New Jersey, a stepdaughter, Brooke Goodall of Huntington, former spouse and good friend, Tiffany Lucas of Huntington, an aunt, Joyce Noland of Columbus, and two nephews, Peter Raftery of Lohr a. Main, Germany and Michael Ross Raftery of New Jersey.  Mike has a host of cousins who loved him like a brother, uncle and great uncle.  In lieu of flowers send donations to… Friends may call from 6-8 pm Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Reger Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 1:00pm  Novmeber 9, 2018 at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Earl Burgess burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
