Obituary

Norma Jane Moore
(September 6, 1935 - October 12, 2018)

NORMA MOORE Norma Jane (Waugh) Moore, 83, of Valrico, FL went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Tampa General Hospital.  Norma was born and raised in Huntington, WV and she was a 1953 graduate of Vinson High School.  She met the love of her life, James Moore, who she was preceded in death, at Westmoreland Baptist Church and they were married, for 45 years, in 1961.  Norma’s husband became a Baptist minister and took churches in other states throughout his ministerial career; Norma was his church secretary for a time in Fredericksburg, VA but she was mainly a stay-at-home mom.  After her children were grown and out of the house, Norma decided to enter the job market and went to work for the Federal Government, U.S. Agricultural Dept (USDA), in Beltsville, MD. In addition to her beloved husband, Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Lillie Waugh; one sister, Erma Lee Deppner; and three brothers, Kenneth, Robert and James Waugh.  She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Jamie Moore Hartman (Jeffrey) of Valrico, FL with whom she lived; her loving son, Scott Moore (Colleen) of Martinsburg, WV; three cherished grandchildren, Brittany Hartman Jordan (Scott) of Mooresville, NC and Ryan & Ashley Moore of Martinsburg, WV; two great-grandchildren, Conner & Addison Jordan of Mooresville, NC; one brother, Donald Waugh (Faye) of Vidalia, GA; and two sisters, Nancy McComas (Buford AKA Boots) of Huntington, WV and Judy Carroll (Raymond) of Glenwood, WV; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Norma was one of eight children and she remained very close to each and every one of her brothers and sisters, even after she left Huntington, WV.  She was an avid sports fan and she watched just about every sport on television, especially her “unfortunate” Baltimore Orioles. “Country roads take me home to the place I belong, West Virginia”…she is coming home to her most favorite place on this Earth.  Norma will be laid to rest beside the love of her life at Woodmere Memorial Park. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 12-1pm on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Reger Funeral Home, 1242 Adams Avenue, Huntington, WV 25704.  A funeral service will be held immediately after at 1pm at Reger.
