Charles Valentine Leist
(January 3, 1928 - February 10, 2015)



CHARLES VALENTINE LEIST, age 87, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at St. Mary's Medical Center where he was surrounded by his family. He resided in Huntington, W.Va., with his wife Marie Leist. Charles was born January 3, 1928, in Barboursville, W.Va., to the late Carl Leist Sr., and Louella Baumgardner Leist. He was raised in Barboursville with two brothers and one sister. He retired from the CSX Railroad where he worked for over 40 years. He was also a Korean War veteran. He was a member of Westmoreland Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife V. Marie Kopsolias Leist of Huntington; daughter Jennifer Diane Leist Aliff (James) and their daughters Lana Marie and Emilee Ann of Huntington; son Kevin Leist of Baltimore, Md.; two step-sons, Larry D'Alessio (Beth) of Barboursville, and Robert D'Alessio (Terri) of Mineral Points, Pa.; one sister-in-law, Charlene Payne Leist of Princeton, W.Va.; one special niece, Judy Kopsolias of Branchland, W.Va.; one special nephew, Mike Holley of Ona; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Timmy Leist; infant brother Carl Leist Jr.; brother George Leist (Goldie); brother Jack Leist; sister Eula Leist Holley (George); and sister-in-law Dorothy Kopsolias Hartman. Services will be Friday, February 13, 2015, 11 a.m., at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, W.Va., by Brother C.J. Adkins and Rev. Maxwell Pennington with singing by Billie Linville. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will follow after the funeral at the Barboursville Cemetery.
