Robert Lee Adkins
(June 10, 1941 - January 25, 2015)



Robert Lee Adkins, 73, of Lawrence County, Ohio, formally of Huntington, WV, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015. He was born June 10, 1941 in Wayne County, WV, a son of the late Ellet Adkins, Jr. and Candis Crockett Adkins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Monzola Dyer Adkins, a brother, Glen Douglas Adkins, brothers-in-law Robert E. Adkins and Gary Lee Cooper, his mother-in-law Shirley Dyer and father-in-law, Ted Dyer. He leaves behind a host of family and special friends: longtime companion Bille Pyles; sons, Keith Edward Adkins (Robin) and Jeffrey Dale Adkins (Earlene); grandchildren, Robert Seth Adkins (Sarah), Emily Beth Wellman (Brett), Kaylin Renee Adkins, and Hannah Elizabeth Bentle (Greg); great grandchildren, Grady Cole Adkins and Easton Taylor Wellman; a brother, Roger E. Adkins (Deleda); sisters, Allene Adkins, Linda J. Edmonds (Frank), Opal Mae Cooper; brother-in-law Danny L. Dyer (Mary); and a host of nieces and nephews. He was a well-respected father, grandfather, and businessman in the Tri-State for many years. He was a contractor and developer in the Huntington area for forty-five years with Robert L. Adkins and Sons, Inc. He attended Symmes Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He loved animals, especially his dogs and farm animals. He will be deeply and sadly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel with Pastor Mark Fields officiating. Burial will be in Bowen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
