Obituary

William Clive Hughes
(March 13, 1953 - August 11, 2016)

On August 11, 2016, William Clive Hughes (63) went home to be with The Lord. Clive was born in Wales on March 13, 1953 to Bryn and Gladys Hughes, who he will meet in his Heavenly home. Clive was raised in Abertysswg, Wales where he met his wife of 45 years, Ann Hughes. While a youth, Clive attended Rhymney Grammar School, Merthyr Tydfil Technical College and studied accounting at Polytechnic of Wales. Clive moved to the United States with his wife and surviving children, Gareth and Martyn, in 1982 and remained in the Barboursville area for the next 34 years until his sudden passing due to heart disease. From an early age, Clive worked for Taylor Woodrow as a Commercial Manager until he transferred to the United States to become a business and mine manager for Taywood Mining. For the past 25 years, Clive was the business manager and Vice President of P&A Engineers in Louisa, KY and Alum Creek, WV. A strong man of Christ, Clive was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Clive served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader and was blessed to have many friends and family from the church. Those who knew Clive knew his passion for three other main things: Family, Friends and Golf – all of which shared his big heart. Clive was preceded in death by his parents, Bryn and Gladys Hughes and a special daughter-in-law Karis Mae Heapy Hughes, and was survived by his loving wife Ann, sons Gareth (Patricia) and Martyn (Trista), grandchildren Bryn, Adyson & Rhys, JP & Mica; sister Oriel Hobbs and her children Andrew and Mark, and her grandchildren, Liam, Lewis, Rhiannon and Hannah; brother John (Joyce) and their children Anthony and Sarah-Jayne (Geoff) and their children Jessica and Elliot; two special sisters-in-law Jane (Rob) Squibbs and their children Matthew and Zoe, and Carol (Mike) Yanez and her children Paul Farr and Marc Morgan; two brothers-in-law Clive and Mark Payne; and the special family of Lynn & Bev Ours and their children Jon (Kerri) and Christa and their extended family. While all miss Clive dearly, his legacy will live on and he would want us all to remember his smile, his generosity and his love of life. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 3661 US Route 60E, Barboursville, WV 25504 from 6 - 7 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow. All are welcome to attend.
