(October 23, 1937 - January 20, 2017)

VERMAL JENNINGS BIAS, 79, born October 23, 1937, peacefully went to be with our Lord Friday, January 20, 2017, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born in Hamlin, W.Va., to the late Walter E. Bias and Anna V. McCallister Bias. He was preceded in death by brothers, Bernard, Leo and James Bias, and two sisters, Geraldine Sheppard and Betty McClanahan. He retired from INCO of Huntington with 32 years of service, during which time he also operated his own survey business. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler, operating heavy equipment, and hunting on his farm with his entire family. He was a longtime member of Minerva Lodge 13 AF&AM in Barboursville, whose members will conduct Masonic graveside rites. He was a supportive and loving husband to his wife, Delores Jean Carter Bias, for over 59 years. Vermal was the proud father of three children, Kent Bias (Paula), Karen Bias Elkins (Kevin) and Mark Bias. He also had six grandchildren, Brandon Bias (Hannah), Jamie Budd (Brandy), Joshua Budd (Amanda), Breanna Comer, and Morgan and Lauren Bias, who made their home with him, and great-grandchildren, Destiny, Mason, Brayden, Dustin, Bodie and Emma. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and other relatives and great friends. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Sunday, January 22, 2017, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, with Pastor Paul Meadows officiating. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
