Obituary

Harry Alonzo Burks
(April 12, 1926 - October 16, 2017)



Harry Alonzo Burks, 91, of Barboursville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 16, 2017. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel with Pastor Greg Lunsford officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville where military rites will be conducted. He was born April 12, 1926 in Barboursville, a son of the late Lon and Nora Cremeans Burks. He was a retired locomotive engineer with the C&O Railroad and was a veteran of the US Navy having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Beulah Ann Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Harry Lee Burks, two brothers, Earl “Bud” Burks and Irvin Burks, and one sister, Beulah Collins. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Etta Adkins Burks; three daughters, Dianna Adkins of Chesapeake, OH, Linda (David) Brown of Houston, Texas, and Terri (Greg) Priddy of Huntington; two sisters, Eva Watson and Jean Casey; one brother, Norman “Shorty” (Jean) Burks; three grandchildren, Laura (Andy) Anglin, Bryan (Erin) Adkins, Tara (Dywayne) Nicely; and six great grandchildren, Kyle, Garrett and Brody Anglin, Jackson and Ellie Adkins, and Lyla Nicely. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Thursday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
