Obituary

Ricky Paul Dunn, 53, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at St. Mary’s Medical Center surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born January 28, 1956 and was reborn in Christ as a teenager. He graduated from Barboursville High School and was a cosmetologist. He operated Rick’s Hair Design and retired from JC Penny Salon. He touched many lives through his countless hours of volunteer work. Rick had a vicious sense of humor but a loving spirit. He was an accomplished by ear pianist and gifted artist. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Murley Dunn and an uncle, Dennis Dunn. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Clary of Lesage, WV; a sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Joe Tackett and a niece, Jessica Tackett all of Ona, WV; two aunts, Eva Nowlin of Columbus, OH and Zelma McCauley of Marlette, MI. He will be greatly missed by his partner of nine years, Jim Garretson. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff of St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Beard Mortuary, Huntington with Pastor Timothy S. Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Union Cemetery, Pliny, WV. Friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 11, 2009 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
