Clifford “Ike” Effingham, 89 of
Huntington,
WV passed away on Monday
December 14, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on
Thursday at 2:00 PM at Beard Mortuary with Rev. Cinda Harkless officiating.
Burial will follow in
Spring
Hill
Cemetery. He was born
February 25, 1920 in Huntington, a son of the late Ervin and Elizabeth
Adkins Effingham. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his
first wife, Bernice Brown Effingham and his second wife, Clara E. Hogan
Effingham, he was also preceded by a sister, Garnet and three brothers,
Norman, James and Clinton Effingham. He was retired from Owens
Illinois and was a member and
helped establish the Onized Retirees Club. He was also a member of Beverly
Hills Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Post 16 whose members will
conduct military graveside rites. He was a WWII Army veteran and was an avid
gardener. He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Libby and David
Haught and Terri Effingham all of Huntington; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim
and Maureen Effingham of Ona, WV; two grandchildren, Krista (David) Denning
of Huntington and Matt (Jen) Haught of Raleigh, NC: two great grandchildren,
Tucker and Claire Denning of Huntington; a special sister-in-law, Elsie
Saunders; several nieces and nephews and his precious cat, Angie. The family
would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Hospice and his caregivers
for their wonderful care. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to
