Doors to the Past

Obituary

Heavens gates were opened to greet Jack Arnol Moore, 78 of Huntington, WV, on October 14, 2010 with his family surrounding him singing him into heaven. In a twinkling of an eye he was able to talk and walk again which he has not been able to do for sometime. He will be greeted by his father and mother, Philip S. and Viola S. Kilbreath Moore, whom he was born to on June 13, 1932; his brothers and sister who went before him, Joseph Moore, Richard Moore and Betty Ann Short and by Dorothy Cook Moore and Marc Moore, Richard’s wife and child. He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Johnna Lou Cook Moore; daughters, Cheryl Moore Vance; Carol Moore Wells, son-in-law, friend and fishing buddy, Steven Wells; and Danette Moore Walker; beloved grandchildren, Jordan Arnol (Helene) Vance and Jarrah A. Vance and sweet baby great granddaughter, Jaidyce A.Vance who never got to know what a sweet man he was, but still lit his eyes when he saw her. His devoted sister Colleen Hill and her family have been very close over the years along with her kids, Jacki Humphreys, John Hill and other nieces and nephews, cousins and many family members in Kentucky, Ohio and Florida that were dear to him. Terri Morre Imani and Sherri Moore Spencer, Richard (Red’s) children. Lois Huddleston & Marilyn Meadows were such a help over the years. Jack was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where he taught Sunday School, youth groups, sang in the choir, served on various boards. He loved the church and the people there were more like family. He worked at INCO for 37 years and was a Master Electrician. He served in the Air Force, loved Marshall University and was an avid bass fisherman and was a member of the Mountaineer Bass Masters Club along with his son-in-law, Steve. Daddy had always wanted boys but God gave him three daughters who worshipped him along with his grandchildren whom he helped raise them in the way of the lord, made sure they were at church, helped with their home work or quizzing or whatever. Words can never express the loss we will feel without his presence but we have the assurance of seeing him again. We can not begin to thank Heartland Nursing home for their kindness as that was Daddy’s earthly home for the last 2 years and Hospice of Huntington for their wonderful care. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 PM at First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Robert Weaver and Dallas Moore officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8 pm at Beard Mortuary.
