MARY ANN HENRY MASSIE

Mary Ann Henry Massie, 76 of Lesage, WV passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary with Rev. Gordon Rutherford officiating. Entombment will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park. She was born September 30, 1940 in Huntington, WV the daughter of the late Casey and Margaret Massie Merritt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Henry and a sister, Sheila Gay Rouse.  Mary Ann was a retired with 36 years of service as the postmaster for the Gallipolis Ferry area.  She was a member of the Democrat Women’s Club and was named the 2016 Democrat of the Year; she was also a member of the AARP local Chapter. She was awarded National Postmaster of Year and was a former Hometown Hero. She is survived by her husband, David F. Massie; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Tim Runyon of Glenwood, WV; a grandson, Timothy (Leah) Runyon; a great granddaughter, Dalaina McClaughlin; a great- grandson, Christian Clagg; a great-great granddaughter, Roselee McClaughlin; a niece, Michelle Rouse; a special nephew, Art (Tracy) Rouse and great-nieces, Casey and Nicole Rouse and Chandler and Taylor Rouse.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary.
