Obituary

W. Nelson Worsham
(June 27, 1923 ~ April 21, 2017)



W. Nelson Worsham awoke to heaven on April 21.  He was born June 27, 1923 in Powhatan, VA, son of Archer and Nora Worsham.  Nelson was a WWII Army veteran, graduate of Smithville Massey School of Business and Marshall University.  He worked 42 years for C&O/CSX railroad in Richmond VA, Cleveland OH, Huntington WV, as Budget Director for the Engineering Department.  He was commissioned Kentucky Colonel and Home Town Hero for his work with Habitat for Humanity, Cridlin Food Pantry and many other ministries.Survivors include beloved wife, Margaret, of 69 years, sister Dot Wilkins - Powhatan VA, daughters and sons-in-law:  Brenda (Oran) Harris - Marietta GA, Margot (Comdr. Anthony) Martin - Huntington WV.  Grandchildren:  Aimee Black - Marietta GA, Amanda (John) Lucas - Ona WV, Melissa Lucas and Megan Worsham - Huntington WV, Tiffany Townsend - Orange Park FL, Heather (Bruce) Thompson - Christiansburg VA, T.J. (Kristen) Martin - Jacksonville FL and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, precious son William Nelson (Bill) Worsham, brother, Clark Worsham, infant sisters Pauline and Marion Worsham. Nelson and Margaret have been active members of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church since 1952.  Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Worsham Endowment Fund at Fifth Avenue Baptist. The family would like to thank Midland Meadows staff and the VA for their gracious care. Visitation will be 10:00 April 26, funeral service at 11:00, Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, 1136 Fifth Avenue, Huntington, WV 25713.
