Billy S. Bowen, 78, of Huntington, was lovingly embraced by our Heavenly Father on February 14, 2017. He was born June 23, 1938, a son of the late Homer Bowen and Eloise Bowen.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, S.G. & Onie Martin.  He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty Louise Potter Bowen. He is survived by his children and their spouses Deborah Dianne Bowen-Coleman (Paul), Billie Jeanne Bowen Brooks (Darrell), William Gregory Bowen; his grandchildren and spouses Patrick Ryan Blatt (Holly), James Zachary Blatt, Catherine Hali’a Bowen Coleman, Elizabeth Nohea Bowen Coleman; his great-grandchildren Tristan Patrick Russell Blatt and Addison Kinleigh Blatt. He will be greatly missed by many other family and friends. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and sports as well as antique cars and trains. He and his beloved wife Betty also enjoyed traveling and admiring the beautiful scenic areas of West Virginia. He further enjoyed volunteering in his children’s activities.  He was the former President of the Tri-State Youth Football League and the Cammack Youth Football League.  He was also a former Little League umpire.  He was a volunteer for the Huntington High School Band Booster Club as well as the Roll-A-Rama Skating Club. He was a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church where his heart was warmed by the fellowship and the strengthening of his faith.  He enjoyed visiting with and ministering to shut-ins. Most important to him were his family and his faith. He was a sales representative at Working Man’s Store.  He previously was self-employed as a manufacturer’s representative in the apparel industry. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church, led by Pastors, Dr. David Lemming and Dr. Tim Yates.  The Celebration of Life service will continue at Woodmere Abbey of Remembrance. Floral gifts are welcome or memorial donations can be made to the Missions Outreach of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. The family would like to extend a special thank to all who have sent flowers, cards and food, to all who have shared their heartfelt condolences, and to those who have lifted us up in prayer.
