Mattie Marie Smith
(November 6, 1925 ~ February 10, 2017)

Mattie Marie Smith, 91, of Huntington, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 10, 2017 at her residence. Born on November 6, 1925 in Lincoln County, WV, she was a daughter of the late Jacob White and Cora Clark White. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gaines E. Smith, and her siblings.  After 21 years of service, Mattie retired from St. Mary’s Medical Center as a nurse’s aid. She was a member of the Cabell-Wayne Association for the Blind and the First Huntington Christian Baptist Church. She is survived by her three sons, Alan (Kelley) Smith with whom she made her home; Otis (Donna) Smith and David (Patricia) Smith; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. The family will welcome friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of a funeral service at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with Richard Maynard, officiating. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park in Huntington.
