Tawna Carol Preston
(March 12, 1957 ~ March 29, 2017)

Tawna C. Preston, 60, of Huntington, WV, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park. She was born March 12, 1957 in Huntington. She was preceded in death by her farther, Donald L. Preston and sister, Connie Preston DeFoe. She was formerly employed by Knox County Schools. She is survived by her mother, Delois Bias Preston, of Huntington; a brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Dee Preston of Kenova, WV; a niece, Courtney Beth Adkins and a nephew, Jared Camron Preston. She enjoyed living and working in the Knoxville area of Tennessee for over 30 years. Her passion was teaching young children and she loved the experience which brought her great joy. She also worked many years in various movie theaters and as a result was quite the movie buff. Although she was a graduate of Marshall University she became a TN Volunteer fan. But upon her return to Huntington in 2012, she quickly adopted her alma mater’s colors of green and white. She fought a difficult but courageous battle with cancer.  The family would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation in helping and supporting Tawna in the great care given to her by Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center, Cabell Huntington Hospital and Hospice of Huntington, with very special thanks to Dr. Scott Mitchell and Megan Wilson Schumaker. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary
