Mary Adeline Williams
October 28, 1912 -- April 3, 2009



Mary A. Williams, 96, of The Wyngate Assisted Living in Barboursville, passed away Friday, April 3, 2009, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Woodmere Abbey of Remembrance on Avondale Road, with Rev. William DeMoss officiating. Burial will follow. She was born October 28, 1912, in Hickman County KY., a daughter of the late Emmett and Swannie Mobley Weatherford. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 53 years, Carl Williams in 1985; and a sister Guynelle Abernathy. She was a resident of Huntington for 63 years, retired from the former Stone and Thomas Department Store, and was a member of the Cross Roads United Methodist Church. Until recently, Mary loved playing bridge twice weekly with The Huntington Duplicate Bridge Association. She earned her Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ben Price of Huntington; a son and daughter-in-law, Hugh M. and Chris Williams of Louisville, KY; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Price of Huntington and Kelli Price of Indian Trail, NC., and one step-grandson and his family Chad Cosby of Birmingham, AL. The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff at Wyngate during her stay, and to the Hospice House for the care she received during her final days. She was a wonderful and devoted mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. Friends may call from 1:00 pm to service time Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Woodmere Abbey of Remembrance.
