Obituary



Theodosia Johnson, 80, of Ona, formerly of Huntington, widow of Floyd A. Johnson, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born August 5, 1935, in Huntington a daughter of the late Virgil and Neoma Hensley Pyles. In addition to her husband and parents others preceding her in death were a twin brother, Theodore Pyles; sisters, Leona Fay Artrip and Eva Maxine Pyles; and brothers, Ted Pyles and Virgil Lester Pyles. Theodosia was a homemaker who touched the lives of many with her sweet smile, helpful ways and sending numerous greeting cards for all occasions. She was a member of Grace Gospel Church. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and David White of Douglasville, GA, and Barbara and David Thompson of Culloden, WV; a son and daughter-in-law, Floyd and Leslie Johnson of Oxford, NC; four grandsons, Ben and Andrew White of Douglasville, GA, Matthew Thompson of Culloden, and Sam Johnson of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Hope Elizabeth Whitson of Latonia, KY, and Virginia Ester Pyles of Huntington; two sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson and Jean Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to give special thanks to Doctors Kimmey and Collins at HIMG and the staff at Midland Meadows, for the brief time she was there, for all the care and attention. Also a special thanks to the staff at Riverview Manor for friendship and support throughout the years. Friends and family will miss getting her cards for every occasion, and just to say "Thanks". A celebration of life visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Chapman's Mortuary. Inurnment will be in Union Hill Cemetery, Chesapeake, at a later date.
