Obituary


Jo Ann Adkins, 81, of Huntington, widow of Larry G. Adkins, died Friday May 8, 2020 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was born May 24, 1938 in West Hamlin, WV, a daughter of the late Clarence Joseph and Hazel Virginia Pullen Thomas. A sister, Virginia Adkins and a brother, Delbert Gene Adkins also preceded her in death. She loved working as a housekeeper for the former Pinnacle Care, now Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Jo attended both Abundant Life Church and First Baptist Church in Guyandotte. She also liked to go for ice cream. Survivors include her two daughters and a son-in-law, Pamela and Jerry Smith of West Hamlin, and Rhonda Michele Adkins of Huntington; three sons, Mark Watson, Brian Watson, and Larry Adkins, all of Huntington; six grandchildren, Marybeth Ray, Steven Watson, Angelina (Jay) Adkins, Gavin (Savannah) Hammond, Paris Hammond, and Braxton Hammond; eight great grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Patricia and Ronnie Dailey of West Hamlin, and Rhonda Edwards of Proctorville, OH. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 pm Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Chapman's Mortuary with Minister Bob Huron officiating. Burial will be in Pullen Cemetery, Hamlin, WV. Friends may visit after 11:00 am Wednesday at Chapman's Mortuary.
