Obituary



Neely Asbury, 89, of Huntington, widower of Permella Jane Asbury, died Thursday, January 14, 2021 at his residence. Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Woodmere Abbey of Remembrance, with his son, Pastor Ivan Asbury officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. Neely was born November 23, 1931 in Wayne, WV, a son of the late Frank and Sadie LeMaster Asbury. He also had five sisters and seven brothers precede him in death. Neely was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a retired crane operator having worked at INCO. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club, Steelworkers Union Local 40, and a 50-year Mason having belonged to the Western Star 11 AF and AM. He was also a member of the Westwood Free Will Baptist Church in Ashland, KY. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Joseph Sullivan of Huntington; a son and daughter-in-law, Ivan and Theresa Asbury of Ashland, KY; a brother, Ervin Asbury of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Kristi Sullivan, Barbara and Joe Angle, Sarah and Justin Maynard, and John and Kayla Asbury; and five great grandchildren, Cade Angle, Nathaniel Angle, Alyson Asbury, Kimber Maynard, and Lincoln Maynard. Donations may be made to Westwood Free Will Baptist Church, 1820 Hoods Creek Pike, Ashland, KY. 41101 in his name.
