Obituary



SHARYN VALE BROOKS MCDANALD, 73, of Huntington, W. Va. went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 19th after a brief illness at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was preceded in death by father William T. Brooks, and is survived by mother Nyta P. Brooks. Her surviving siblings include William Thomas Brooks Jr., Deborah Ann Nerhood (Robert), and Joseph Wesley Brooks (Jennifer). Her surviving sons are Dr. Matt McDanald (wife Stacey), grandchildren Alec Kusman, Peyton Olivia McDanald, and Jackson McDanald of Louisville, KY. Son Paul McDanald, grandchild Abbey McDanald of Huntington. Sharyn was a graduate of Huntington High School. She graduated from Marshall University in 1967 with an Associates degree in Science in Nursing. Sharyn worked for many years as a labor and delivery nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, then transitioned and retired from Cabell Huntington Surgery Center. Sharyn also served on the Board of Directors of The Healing Place of Huntington, now known as Recovery Point. The family held a private celebration of her life on January 22nd at the Chapel at Woodmere Memorial Park.
