Obituary



Mary Jane Wagers, 96, of Bluefield, WV, formerly of Huntington, went to her heavenly home Tuesday January 12, 2021 at the Maples Nursing Home, Bluefield. She was the widow of James F. Wagers, who died September 21, 1991. She was born November 22, 1924 in Wilmerding, PA, a daughter of the late Gilbert Roy and Maggie May Walker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John W. Walker of Shamokin, PA. A loving mother and talented homemaker, Mary Jane was an active leader in both the Girl Scouts and her local PTA. After retiring from the Huntington Chamber of Commerce, she enjoyed her many activities at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Left to cherish her memory, is one son, Russ Willoughby and his wife Angie of Princeton, WV; one daughter, Linda Verbage of Huntington; and one granddaughter, Ashley Farrow. She is also survived by one step-daughter and husband, Michelle and Dr. Frank Shomo of Scott Depot, WV; one step-son, Michael Wagers; two grandsons, Josh and Preston Shomo; and a church family she loved serving Christ with. For those that wish to gather in honor of Mary Jane, a memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday January 18, 2021, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Barboursville, with Dr. Frank Shomo officiating. Visitation after 12:30 PM Monday at the cemetery. If attending please wear facial coving and honor social distancing.
