Betsy Kaye Codling
(July 23, 1954 - September 11, 2022)


Betsy Kaye Codling


Betsy Kaye Barnes Codling, formerly of Thomas and Clarksburg, West Virginia, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at The Heritage Center in Huntington, West Virginia after an extended illness. Betsy was born July 23, 1954 in Harman, WV. She was the daughter of the late Leland and Ruby Long Barnes. She was also preceded in death by the father of her children, Donald Ray Codling. Betsy was a member of River Valley Baptist Church in Huntington. Betsy was known for her spunky personality and quick wit. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, sister, brothers and other family members. Betsy, sadly leaves behind, to cherish their memories, her son Justin Michael Codling (April Burke) of Nitro, WV, two daughters, Jaclyn Codling (partner, Megan Mounts) of Huntington, and Jennifer Codling Metheny of Bridgeport, WV. Three grandchildren, Julia Metheny, Justin Metheny and Jack David Metheny IV, lovingly called her Mamaw. Betsy is also survived by her sister, Beverly Barnes Fink (David) of Manassas, VA; two brothers, Kenneth Barnes of Deltona, FL and Raymond Barnes (Kathy) of Warsaw, VA. Aunt Betsy was dearly loved by her nieces and nephews, Doug Barnes, Denise Barnes, Greg Barnes, Stacey Fink Kaufman (Glen), Amanda Fink and Courtney Fink Homan (James) and her fur family, Bella, Bugzy, and Kitty Cat Codling. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Barney Gedwillis Mt. Top Senior Center, Route 32, Spruce Street, Thomas, WV 26292, on Saturday October 1, 2022, from 12:00 to 2:00 followed by a graveside service at 3:00 in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Thomas, West Virginia. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, is assisting the family.
