A graduate of Marshall University in 1963, Charlotte had felt a calling to teach and taught English and History for over 40 years at Huntington Christian Academy, Mid-America Christian School, Grace Christian School, Marshall University along with a couple of public schools in the Huntington area. Charlotte was a member of her Sunday School class at Grace Gospel Church and in addition to her love for the Lord, was the love for her family. She felt great satisfaction in the accomplishments of her son's various degrees and her granddaughter's starting college. She also took joy in many of her former students and their successes as well.
She loved watching her sons play sports. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and loved being with her family members. She had an extensive book collection of which she had read many books more than once. She loved going to church and Sunday School and singing gospel songs. One of her favorite songs was How Great Thou Art along with The Old Rugged Cross and of course Amazing Grace. With her husband, Jim, in 61 years of marriage they read the Bible cover to cover several times. Some of her favorite Bible verses were Psalm 121:1, John 14:2, and John 3:16.
