Preston Clayborn
(January 24, 1943 - March 20, 2008)



 

Preston Clayborn Jr., 65, of Huntington, WV went to be with the Lord March 20, 2008 at home. He was born January 24, 1943 in Williamson, WV, the son of the late Preston Clayborn Sr., and Elizabeth Wells Clayborn. He was an active member of Calvary Missionary Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Teacher, and was a spokesperson for the Mission Auxillary at Mariner’s Nursing Home. He was also attending Tri-State Bible College until his health failed. Mr. Clayborn was a Cabell County Deputy Sheriff, a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam. He graduated from Marshall University with a degree in Business Administration, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha PSI Fraternity. He retired from Applied Card. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Esther and a brother, James. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving devoted wife of 42 years, Marcella Clayborn, six sons; Rev. Israel and Bishop (Rita), Charles, William, Preston III (Shelley), Darius (Patricia), CJ and a daughter, Devonna; four sisters, Mary Campbell, Queen Brown, Sarah Dotson (Daniel) Mavis Savoy and four brothers; William (Barbara), Charles (Diane), Marvin (Bridgette), Michael (Wilhelmina); a brother-in-law, George Spaulding; 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, a host of Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins, two special friends Glen Smith and Mark Layne, a special Aunt, Frances Wells, Cousins, Ralph, John (Pat), Bill (Penny), Bobby, and Goldia. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00pm Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Huntington with Dr. Rev. Franklin Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, WV. Visitation will be Friday March 28 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Huntington, WV.
