Obituary

HOWARD JACK THACKER, 79, of Huntington entered into his eternal rest on Monday, August 9, 2004, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2004, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor Mark Finley officiating. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery. He was born May 14, 1925, in Lawrence County, Ohio, a son of the late John and Ruth Thacker. Jack was devoted to God and family. He was a longtime member of Sunrise Temple Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a caring, compassionate man with a unique sense of humor. Jack always was willing to lend a helping hand. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked at Houdaille Industries and retired from Cabell County Board of Education. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joann Adkins Thacker; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeffery Thacker and Joseph and Winnie Thacker; three grandchildren, Melanie Rouse, Josh Thacker and Jesse Thacker; two great grandchildren, Caleb and Derrian. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2004, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
