Obituary

GRACIE L. LEWIS, 82, of Milton slipped peacefully away at her residence Tuesday, September 21, 2004, to be with Jesus and to be reunited with her husband, James Lewis, who preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2004, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with the Rev. Gerry White and the Rev. Tracy Mills officiating. Entombment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. She was born October 9, 1921, in Louisa, Ky., a daughter of the late Edgar and Lillie Diamond. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Pancake, Roberta Sullivan and Kathleen McCoy, and one brother, Tillman Diamond. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, Milton. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Pauley of Milton; son and daughter-in-law, John G. and Barbara Lewis of Milton; two sisters, Caroline Cupp of North Carolina and Dora Cyrus of Milton; seven grandchildren, Aimee Reeves, Jack Hatfield, Tracy Hatfield, John D. Lewis, Heather Pauley, Kelly Mullins and Michelle Chapman; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2004, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Special thanks to her caretaker, Becky Conrad, Hospice of Huntington and Dr. Gerrit Kimmey for their excellent loving care.
