Obituary

Mrs. Eloise Hash Pope. 91, of Milton died Sunday, September 5, 2004 at Hartland of Riverview Nursing Home, South Point.  Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2004 at Church in the Valley, Milton with pastor Jim Franklin and Dr. Stan Maynard officiating.  Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial gardens, Barboursville.  She was born February 20, 1913 in Barboursville, a daughter of the late Joseph Jacjson and Florence Woodburn Hash.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 1966 by her husband, Richard Hampton Pope; two brothers, Boyd Hash and Paul Hash; two infants brothers; six sisters, Miss Mary E. Hash, Mrs. Roscoe (Hazel) Templeton, Mrs. Fred (Myrtle) Land and Miss Margaret E. Hash.  Survivors include a son and his wife, John M. and Mary Pope of Pittsburgh; grandson, Michael Brenner, who was truly her son in all but name, and his wife, Ursula, of Cincinnati, and another grandson and his wife, Bill and Toni Pope of Chicago; four granddaughters, Carl Hallberg and her husband, Kurt, of Pittsburgh, Kathryne Pope of Pittsburgh. Jane Richmann of Silver Springs, Maryland, Lynn and Adam Borders of Tucson, Arizona; two great-grandsons, Timothy Lynch and Brenden Borders; four great-granddaughters, Jennifer Brenner, Katie Hallberg, Sara Pope and Haesey Borders; and a number of nieces and nephews.  She as a graduate of Barboursville High School and Marshall University and was an elementary teacher in Cabell County for 41 years prior to her retirement in 1973.  In that year she was chosen as Teacher of the Year in Cabell County.  She was had been a resident of Milton since 1943.  She was a charter member of Century Club, Retired Teachers Association, and Chap. 149 OES.  Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2004 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.  Memorial Contribution may be made to "Songs in the Night" the Jim Franklin Ministries, Inc. radio program.
