Obituary

Jerry Clinton Ashworth, 78, of Culloden, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008, after a long illness, at the VA Medical Center.  Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Pastor Ray Sovine officiating.  Entombment will follow Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.  Jerry was born April 13, 1930, in Putnam County, a son of the late Jerry and Edda Eggleton Ashworth.  He is also preceded in death by his wife, Ethel A. Ashworth; two brothers, Preston Ashworth and Leslie Ashworth; one sister, Amalin Lawson.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.  He was also a member of the DAV. He attended First Church of God, Hurricane.  He will be remembered as a thoughtful and kind man of modest means.  He is survived by two sons, John Keith Ashworth and Larry Wayne Ashworth and his wife Jeri; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jerry Lynn Traylor and Cheryl Ann Burns and her husband Craig; one brothers, Wendell V. Ashworth; one sister, Ruth L. Alford; five grandchildren, Paul Traylor, Marci Traylor, David Ashworth, Kyle Ashworth and Tyler Burns; one step-daughter, Pamela G. Smith and her husband Junior; one step granddaughter, Cristy Davis; one step grandson, Gilbert “Skip” Smith.  The children of Jerry are most grateful to their Uncle Bill, Carolyn Sheets and Home Health Aide, Debbie for the care they gave.  Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
