Obituary

Alice Francis Thorne, 91 years 11 months, of Ona, went home to be with the Lord on November 29, 2009.  Alice was the daughter of the late Samuel Adam and Rosa Shultz Luellen.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Vernard Thorne; sisters, Helen Chapman, Mary Wolfe, Kathleen Bond; brother, Alonzo Joe Luellen.  Alice was a homemaker and a life long member of Beulah Ann Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as secretary of the Sunday School for over forty years.  She is survived by a very special foster brother, Donald “Donnie” Stevens, and his wife Jean; children Waynetta Toler of Eden, Georgia, Myrna (John) Stephens of Point Pleasant, WV, and Sandra Chapman of Ona who was her loving and wonderful caregiver.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Wendy (Joe) Buono and Michael Shubert all of Georgia, Maia Dawn (Todd) Endicott, Mary Danalee (Rusty) Gleason all of Point Pleasant; special stepgrandchild, DeRosa (Joel) Stephens of Morrison, Tenn., stepgrandchildren, Dion (Mickey) Wagoner of Belington, WV, Dedrick Stephens of Fayetteville, Tenn., DaNita Lane of Gallatin, Tenn; her great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Jonathan, Lyle, Myrand Jo Endicott, Brandon, Jesse, Hannah Gleason, and Ashley Buono.  She was blessed with six step great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews that held a special place in her heart.  Special thanks to the staff at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington.  Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Pastor Paul Meadows officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
