Obituary

Garry David Koontz, 71, of Huntington, passed away Monday, October 19, 2009 in St. Mary’s Medical Center.  Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with the Rev. Bennie Dean officiating.  Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.  He was born September 14, 1938 in Huntington, a son of the late Shirley David and Namie White Koontz.  He was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Charles Glover and infant granddaughter, Madison.  Mr. Koontz was a retired Fireman for the City of Huntington and served in the US Army.  He was also a very devoted husband, dad, grandfather and great grandfather.  He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Cremeans Koontz; two sons, David Koontz and his wife, Angie and John Koontz; two daughters, Vicki Koontz and Namie Stump; one brother, Eugene Paugh; eight grandchildren, Courtney, Nathaniel, Cara, Alyssa, Brett, Bethany, Austin and Caley and one great grandchild, Nevaeh.  Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 21 at Heck Funeral Home.  Special thanks to extended family members and friends for all of their care and concern throughout the years.
