Guy F. “Slick” Arthur, Jr., 83, of Milton went to meet his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 14, 2010 at the VA Medical Center, Huntington, WV. He was born June 25, 1926 to the late Guy Arthur, Sr. and Zettie Dawson Arthur in Wickham, WV. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Laura Belle Cox Arthur; son, Richard T. Arthur; sisters, Freda (Leo) Lares, Flora Ann (W.B) Stafford and Erma Stafford; mother-in-law and father-in-law, T.D. and Alma Mae Critchley Cox. Guy served proudly in the US Navy LCI and retired from C&P Telephone Company (Verizon) with over 30 years of service. He was a member of Beulah Ann Baptist Church, where he was a former trustee and Sunday school teacher. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Lemuel Wetherholt of Milton; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Becky Arthur of Ona; grandsons, Len and Shane (Sarah) Wetherholt of Milton; brothers, Bill (Doris) Arthur and Jess (Joyce) Arthur of Beckley; brother-in-law, Ken Stafford of Kopperston; the Cox families in WV, DE and NM and many extended family members. Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with the Rev. Ray Scarberry officiating. The family will receive friends Friday beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the VA Medical Center, Dr. Clapp, Dr. Apgar, Connie and Vickie, and the nursing staff for their loving and excellent care. Also, thanks to all who assisted in Guy’s care, especially Kathy, Sarah, Lana and Robin and the staff at Sarah Care Senior Center. Your kindness and caring will never be forgotten. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton.
