Nina Fay Midkiff, 89, of Ona, WV, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with the Rev. Richard Black officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Nina was Baptist by faith. She was born March 30, 1921 to the late James A. and Bertha McCallister Black. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bacil C. Midkiff; one son, Climith Midkiff; one son-in-law, Darrell Chapman; eight brothers, Willis “Pete”, Addie, Shelby, Matthew, Earl, Alonzo, Richard and John Melvin Black; two sisters, Virginia Harshbarger and Laura Childers. She is survived by two sons, Ronald (Tonyia) Midkiff of Huntington and Harold Midkiff of Barboursville; one daughter, Opal Chapman of Milton; two sisters, Myrtle Terry of Milton and Della (Okey) Childers of Ona, who also has been her caregiver for seven years and nine months; ten grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. A very, very special thanks to her son, Harold, who gave up his weekends to care for his mother in her home for four years. His efforts and time was much appreciated. Also, special thanks to nieces, Natelia Hinkle for helping with supplies and Barbara Dorman for lending a hand when needed. The family would also like to thank Dr. Matthew Harris and staff, St. Mary’s Hospital – 4 South, Team 4 and the staff at Hospice House. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.
