Obituary
Myrtle Louvenia Hatfield Chapman, 87, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 26, 2011 in Putnam Care and Rehabilitation, Hurricane. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Pastor Paul Meadows and Rev. Jim Bolen officiating. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery. She was born March 16, 1924 in Milton, WV a daughter of the late James Albert and Chloe Clagg Hatfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Emzy R. Chapman; her son, Randell E. Chapman, son-in-law, David Scarberry; three sisters, Essie Clagg, Violet Meadows, and Mary Lillian Hatfield; two brothers, James A., Jr. and Robert Hatfield. She was retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. where she worked many years at 29th Street Huntington and the mall stores in marketing and receiving. She was a longtime member of the Milton Senior Citizens and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Milton, Chapter 149. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn K. Scarberry of Ona; two sisters, Lessie Moses of Milton and Bessie (Hershel) Holley of Milton; brother, Harold (Patty) Hatfield of Milton; four grandchildren, Dwayne Scarberry, Kevin (Tabatha) Scarberry all of Milton, Daphne Scarberry of Ona and Angela (Tim) McCallister of Barboursville; five great grandchildren, Dalton and Kasey McCallister, Haley, Levi David, and Bennett Scarberry; a host of friends and relatives. Myrtle had a zest for life and lived every day to the fullest. She loved all her family, sisters, brother, nieces, nephews, and especially her grandchildren. She was so proud of everything they did. She spent many happy days in the mountains with Harold and his family and was always ready to go again at a moments notice. We want to thank all of the staff of Putnam Care and Rehab for taking such good care of her. Christy Young went above and beyond caring, for she saw to her every need. She could get a response from her when no one else could and we thank her for it. We want to give a special thanks to Gloria Wyant for being there when she died and comforting her at the end. Visitation will be Monday, March 28, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with the Order of the Eastern Star, Milton, Chapter 149 conducting services at 7:30 PM.
