DOROTHY J. "Dottie" WORKMAN
DOROTHY J. “Dottie” WORKMAN, 76, of Huntington, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 20, 2010. Dottie was born August 5, 1934 in Culloden, West Virginia, to the late Winfred and Ora Bell Martin Honaker. Dottie was raised by her grandparents Vinnie and Amos Honaker. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P. M., Wednesday, November 24, at Henson Mortuary with Pastor Brady K. Lipscomb officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ivan V. Smith, her second husband and love of her life Jack Workman, and four brothers, William A., Paul A., W. Floyd, and Philip R. Honaker. Surviving her are her children, Rodney D. Smith of Huntington, Judith A. Rowe and husband John of Huntington, Joyce J. Sills and husband, Jim of North Carolina, Virgil L. Smith and wife, Barbara of Kansas, Ricky A. Smith of Huntington, William “Billy” Smith and wife, Bim of Texas, two step-sons Larry Workman and Rody Workman and wife, Gail of West Virginia. Also surviving are two sisters, Reba Jones of Ohio, Wanda Trabert of Ohio, two surviving brothers Larry Honaker of Oregon, and M. Tee Honaker of West Virginia., 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Dottie was a retired floral designer with Ed Bennet Flowers and owner and operator of the Blue Surf Club. She was a member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank Brenda Chaney and Rita Stevenson for their tender care of their mother. Dottie loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her passion was her grandchildren and working with flowers. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call from 6-8 p. m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Henson Mortuary, Barboursville.
