Obituary
WARREN PATTON
Warren Patton, a 49 year resident of Huntington, died at the age of 89 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va.. He looked forward to the coming of his Lord and Savior, and frequently greeted friends with the phrase “Perhaps Today.” Thursday, February 17, 2011 was that day for Warren as he left this world to be with Jesus. His funeral will at Grace Gospel Church, Huntington, W.Va. on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Matt and Pastor Keith Weibe Officiating. Entombment will follow at the mausoleum in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursvile, W.Va. Arrangements under the direction of Henson Mortuary, Barboursvile, W.Va. He was born in Eccles, W.Va. and answered his country’s call for men to enlist in the war against the Nazi regime. He fought for freedom in France, Belgium, and Germany, earning a Purple Heart as well as a Bronze Star Medal for bravery. He held positions of leadership in the Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Beckley, W.Va. as well as Grace Gospel Church in Huntington, W.Va. where he was a member for almost half a century. His greatest desire in life was to know that each member of his large family had been freed from the curse of sin by trusting Jesus Christ as Savior. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and one grandson. He is survived by his wife and dearest friend of 65 years, Geraldine “Jean” Patton. He is survived by four children and their families, including their oldest child Dean and his wife, Deanna, and their children, spouses, and grandchildren- Jonathan and Danusia and their children Kaiya and Summer; Denise Rouse (widow of Matthew Patton) and their children Brianna and Curren and her husband Carl Rouse and their son Emmet; and Joanna Murray and her husband Ryan and their children Addie and Alister. Warren and Jean’s second child Ross is married to Linda. Their children are Amy Chidester and her husband Andrew, Brian and his wife Sunny, Beth Montero and her husband David, and Mark and his wife Rachel and their daughter Taylor. Warren and Jean’s third child is Dwayne. His oldest two children from a previous marriage are Suzanne Evans and her husband Jeff and her children Heather, Russell, and Anthony; and Stephanie Nielsen and her husband Chris and their daughter Linnea. Dwayne and Judy Patton have one son, David. Warren and Jean’s youngest child Karen is married to Norman Hawks. Their children are Justin, Timothy, and Jennifer. Additional survivors include two brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for friends and family will be on Saturday, February 19, 2011 form 6-8P.M. at Henson Mortuary, Barboursville, W.Va. Memorial gifts may be made to the Missions Fund at Grace Gospel Church, 1111 Adams Avenue, Huntington, W.Va. 25704 which would be consistent with Warren and Jean’s desire to see the good news about Jesus Christ preached around the world.
