LESTER H. ROY
(October 31, 1921 - February 18, 2011)



Lester H. “Leck” Roy, 89, husband of Myrtle Clay Roy of Barboursville, W.Va. died Friday, February 18, 2011 in Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center, Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Pea Ridge United Methodist Church, Huntington. Entombment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Barboursville, W.Va. He was born October 31, 1921 in Logan County, W.Va. a son of the late Garrett and Nora Adkins Roy.  He was a retired electrician in 1985, with electrical unions #317, Huntington, and #916, Houston, Texas. and a member of Pea Ridge United Methodist Church, Western Star Lodge #11, Guyandotte for over 50 years, who will hold graveside rites. In addition to his wife he is survived by one, son Gary and wife Sheila Roy-of Barboursville, one brother, Alfred & wife Mildred Roy of Huntington, Grandson, Christopher Roy, great-grandson Joshua Roy, granddaughter Tonya Mendez and husband Joey, great-grandaughter Trinity Mendez. Additional survivors include a sister-in law, Wanda Hutchison, Brother-in-laws and wives Howard and Sharon Clay, Henry "Red" Clay and wife Jenny Clay, sister-in-law Betty Clay, special niece Lavada Roy and family. Several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded by sister Lillian and brother-in-law Ike Taylor, brother Gilmor and wife Lola Roy, Garrett Roy Jr, sister-in-law, Afton Wheeler and husband Freelon Wheeler, brother-in-laws. Bill Hutchison, Sherwood and Lowell Clay, nephew, Larry Roy .Lester spent over 55 years as a electrician and in his younger years he did a lot of volunteer work for the city of Barboursville and surrounding areas. He worked with the Boy Scouts, taking them camping . He and a friend wired the Boy Scout and Barboursville city swimming pools. Since his retirement he and his wife have enjoyed the once a month luncheon meetings of the Electricians retiree group During World War II Lester was in the Naval Reserves and spent several years at U.S. Naval Base on Oahu, Hawaii and on the Island of Guam. He was very proud to be a part of the U.S. Navy Reserves while serving mostly oversea with his God given electrician talent. Since retiring he and his wife spent the winters months in Florida until 2006 when they came back to W.Va.to spend the rest of there lives. Friends may call on Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 6-9 p.m at Henson Mortuary, Barboursville, W.Va.
