ALEXANDER FRANK SKIRPAN
(February 20, 1933 - December 16, 2015)



Alexander Frank Skirpan, 82 of Barboursville, W.Va. passed away, Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. He was born February 20, 1933 in Carnagie, PA. the son of the late, Frank and Mary Popivchak Skirpan.  He was a National jobber for IMEX Corporation, represented national accounts for Sherwin Williams, served as PFC in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, attended Carnegie High School, Carnegie, PA, Kiski Preparatory School in Saltsburg, PA, graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, member of the business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi.; Board member at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Huntington, W.Va., AHEPA (American Helenic Education Progressive Association) Past Governor District 11, Frequent visitor and supporter of Holy Cross Monastery, Wayne, W.Va, American Legion board member, board member of the Huntington Field House, Board member of the Huntington Red Cross where he donated 20 gallons of blood, helped initiate midget league football in Barboursville, W.Va. where he served as coach, coached the midget league wrestling, served as referee for college wrestling matches and high school state tournaments, Pennsylvania State Wrestling Champion in 1952, member of the West Virginia Chapter of National Wrestling Hall of Fame where he was inducted in 2009. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Skirpan of Barboursville, W.Va; brother, David Skirpan of McMurray, PA; sister-in-law, Dee Butler and husband, Dave of Green Cove, FL; children, Alexander Frank Skirpan, Jr. (wife, Susan) of Richmond, VA, Andrew Alex Skirpan (wife, Lou Ann) of Lutz, FL and Ann Paula Spence of San Antonion, TX; grandchildren, Elizabeth Skirpan, Nicholas Skirpan, Rebecca Skirpan, Emily Skirpan, Daniel Skirpan, Sarah Skirpan, Patrick Skipan and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:oo AM on Monday, December 21, 2015 at St. George Orthodox Church, Huntington, W.Va. with Fthr. Mark Elliott and Fthr. Searphim Voepel officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, W.Va. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 5:30 PM until 8:30 PM with  Trisagion Prayers at 8:00 PM at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary, Barboursville, W.Va. Special thanks to the nursing staff in the St. Mary’s Medical Center ICUU, especially, Penny and Nick.  The family wishes memorial donations be made to the Holy Cross Monastery, 505 Holy Cross Rd. Wayne, W.Va. 25570 or to the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 701 11th Avenue, Huntington, W.Va. 25701.
