Melvin Lenton Slone, 70 of Barboursville, W.Va. went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va. He was born February 28, 1946 in Huntington, W.Va. the son of the late, Lenton Matthew and Jettie Rickman Slone. He was a retired Control Operator from Shell and Goodyear which later became M&G Polymers, was a courtesy driver for Davis and also White Chrysler Dodge, a delivery driver for Napa auto parts, a U.S. Air Force Veteran, and member of the American Legion Post #177, Barboursville, W.Va. and a 1964 graduate of Huntington East High School. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Clifford Price. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Paula Elliott Slone of Barboursville, W.Va; three sons, Matt Mayse of Huntington, W.Va, Melvin J. Slone of South Point, OH. and James E. Slone of Huntington, W.Va; brothers, Ronnie Slone of Huntington, W.Va, Damon Slone and Darrell Slone both of Fla; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary, Huntington, W.Va. with Leonard Spurlock officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, W.Va. with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #16 Huntington, W.Va. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
