Selma Jewell Nixon
July 20, 1911 - July 10, 2010


Selma Jewell Nixon, 98, of Huntington, died Saturday, July 10, 2010 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was born July 20, 1911 in Hurricane, W.Va. a daughter of the late Walter and Clara Margaret Erwin Foster. She was a member of the New Baptist Church in Huntington. In addition to her parents she was also preceded by her husband, Granville D. Nixon, Sr.; two brothers, Ed Foster and James Allen Foster and two great grandsons, Emanuel Nixon and Noah Sparks. She is survived by one son, G. D. Nixon (Charlotte) of Huntington; five grandchildren, Michael Nixon (Kristin), Kathi Jenkins (Ben), Cindy Frazier, Matthew Sparks and Larry Sparks (Beth); five great grandchildren, Trentin Sparks, Drew Sparks, McKenna Nixon, Gavin Sparks and Jillene Nixon and two sisters, Mary Catherine Smith of Holgate, Ohio, Ivel Cottrel of Cleveland, Ohio. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by Pastor Don Walker. Interment will follow in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane, W.Va.. Friends may call Tuesday 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
