Blain, Sr.

Marshall P. Blain Sr.,
81, of Huntington, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 in Cabell Huntington
Hospital. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2010 by
Rev. Eddie Gandy at Klingel Carpenter Mortuary. Marshall was born September
1, 1928 in Pt. Pleasant, WV; the son of the late Roy and Josephine Preston
Blain. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son,
Marshall P. “Mark” Blain Jr. and daughter-in-law, Donnie Blain. Mr. Blain
was retired as Deputy Fire Chief of the Huntington Fire Department with 36
years of service and was instrumental in starting and training the scuba
team for the Huntington Fire Dept. He loved woodworking, playing the
trumpet, listening to Big Band music, raising flowers, fishing, hunting and
the great outdoors especially Canaan Valley and Kelly’s Island as well as
the West Virginia mountains and additionally, he loved watching Marshall
University Baseball. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Beulah “Boots”
Roberts Blain; a son, David Blain and his wife Marsha of Huntington; three
grandchildren, all of whom he loved very much, Courtney and husband Tony
Green, Andrew and wife Laura Blain and Amanda Blain; one
great-granddaughter, Reagan Green; one sister, Nadine Harrell and one
brother, Herbert and his wife Kathleen all of Florida. There will be no
visitation prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the
Marshall University Baseball Team C/O Coach Waggoner will be appreciated.
