Lois Hess
July 3, 1925 - June 6, 2010



Lois Hess, 84, of Huntington went home to be with the Lord on June 6, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Born July 3, 1925, wife of 59 years to Al Hess who she met when he was sent from New York to remodel the former W.T. Grant store in Huntington. She was the office manager having graduated from Huntington High in 1943 and the former Huntington Business College. After moving to New York City they returned to the area in 1969 and lived in Proctorville, Ohio until 2008 when they moved back to Huntington. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Sadie Ross, brother Clyde Ross and sister Leota Akers. In addition to her husband Al, she is survived by her son Robert (Jannell) and grandchildren Jonathan and Stephanie Hess all of Huntington, her best friend of 75 years Carlene Jarvis of Fairmont, her nephew Keith Ross of Bellefontaine, Ohio, nieces Peggy Navy and Brenda Runyon of Huntington and Clydena Wagner of Indiana along with a host of cousins and close friends. She was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital and the VA Hospital for many years as well as being active in many other clubs and volunteer activities. She was a former member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and a current member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Huntington. Visitation from 6 to 8 pm on June 8, 2010 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, 1101 6th Ave. Huntington, WV 25701.
