the Civil and World Wars. Along the way he built a rather large collection
of rifles, Lionel trains and railroad lanterns.
He was a deacon and elder in Milton, Teays Valley and
other Presbyterian churches. He served on numerous committees for the
Presbytery of West Virginia. He touched many lives as a Commissioned Lay
Preacher serving pulpit supply for Presbyterian churches throughout the
Huntington and Charleston area.
He began his career as a public accountant at Armco Steel
in Ashland, Ky. After working for several companies in Ohio, Virginia and
Missouri, he returned in 1976 to Huntington to open his own accounting firm.
He retired in 2004 from AC&S of Nitro, but continued doing consulting and
tax preparation until his death. Additionally, he served on the Salt Rock
Public Service District Sewer board.
He was a member of Beni- Kedem Shrine Temple of Charleston
and a Mason of the Aurora Lodge 0048 in Portsmouth, Ohio. He received
honorable discharges from the Kentucky and Virginia National Guards, and was
recognized as a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Jones
Goodman; a son and daughter in-law, Mitchell Coleman and Allyson Bird
Goodman; a daughter, Rebecca Anne Goodman and three grandchildren, Danielle
Kay, Drew Mitchell and Dianna Lynne Goodman. He is preceded in death by his
