Robert Friend McCaskey
(April 5, 1918 - May 6, 2011)



Robert Friend McCaskey, 93, of Huntington, died Friday, May 6, 2011 at The Woodlands Retirement Community. Bob was born April 5, 1918 in New Martinsville, W.Va., a son of the late Ambrose Everett and Bessie Naomi DeBolt McCaskey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe, Ambrose, Kenneth and Wayne McCaskey. He was a graduate of Marshall University where he received his BS Degree. He served as Captain in the U.S. Army 571st. SP antiaircraft artillery division during WWII; after the war he established Gravely Tractor Sales of Huntington in 1949. He has been a member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, former member of The Rotary Club of Huntington (Paul Harris Fellow), City Club, Noon Club, Guyan Golf and Country Club and the Marshall Alumni Board. Surviving are his wife, Agnes Givens. McCaskey; two children, Jane McCaskey Beatty and husband Joe of Greensboro, NC, and Robert Clay McCaskey and wife Jennifer of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Matt McCaskey (Beth), Elizabeth McCaskey Gregg (Brad), Anne Beatty (Adam Graham-Squire) and Locke Beatty; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2011 at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jack Lipphardt. Private entombment will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Friends may call Monday 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Expressions of sympathy may be made to The Marshall Foundation or Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church.
