Mr. Donald H.
Greenwell
(October 11, 1926 - May 18, 2011)
Mr. Donald H. Greenwell, age 84,
passed away on May 18, 2011. He was born on October 11, 1926, the youngest
son of Julia Dunham Greenwell and Owen W. Greenwell. He was a lifelong
resident of Huntington, graduating from Huntington High School and The
University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy in 1951. He enlisted at age 17
in the United States Navy in order to serve his country during World War II.
He was co-owner and proprieter of The Boggess Drug Store where he served the
people of Huntington and the Tri-State area with kindness and compassion for
almost 45 years prior to his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers,
Richard T. Greenwell and Owen Clay Greenwell, and his wife of 53 years,
Perla Mae Walden Greenwell. He is survived by his two daughters, Jill
Greenwell Geoghegan of Lexington, KY, her husband, Keith , and Susan
Greenwell Geoghegan of West Chester, Ohio, her husband Mark, and his two
grandchildren, Brian and Mallory Geoghegan also of West Chester. Also
surviving are two sisters-in-law, Geneva Adams and Betty Greenwell, both of
Huntington, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special
friend, Delores Nixon of Lavalette.
Funeral services will be conducted at Klingel-Carpenter
Mortuary on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. by The Reverend Todd
Godby. Interment will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park. Visitation will be
held at the funeral home on Friday evening, May 20, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Don
will be remembered fondly for many reasons but most especially for being a
loving, patient, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
