DORSEY LOGAN PENNINGTON, JR., 89, of
Huntington, W. Va., passed away on May 1, 2011. Born October 8, 1921 at
Alderson, W. Va., the son of the late Rev. D. L. Pennington and Ola Hylton
Pennington. Graduated from Hamlin High School, Hamlin, W. Va., and with
Honors from Marshall University with a degree in Business Administration in
1948. During World War II he was in the Army Air Corp, 494 Bomb Group,
Intelligence Section and he served until the end of the War in the South
Pacific. He was honorably discharged with the rank of lst Lieutenant.
He was employed by the First Huntington National Bank, now J P Morgan Chase,
as a Trust Officer for 30 years. He was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist
Church, Guyan Country Club, and a supporter of Marshall University,
Huntington Museum of Art and the Boy Scouts.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Esthel America Meadows Pennington;
two sons Steven and wife Joan of Fairfax Station, Va., Gordon and wife
Marilee of Arlington, Va. Five grandchildren, Derek and wife Elissa
Pennington, Rachel Pennington, John Gordon Pennington, Maura Pennington and
Colleen Pennington, one Great Grandson, Logan William Pennington,
Brother-In-Law Dr. Asa M. Meadows and wife Pamela, of Jacksonville, Fl, and
a cousin, Thelma Withrow, of Columbus, Ohio.
Funeral Services will be held at Klingel Carpenter Mortuary on Thursday, May
5, 2011 at 1 PM, with burial thereafter at Woodmere Cemetery. Viewing will
be held at on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 from 4 PM until 8 PM. at the funeral
home
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Tri-State Area
Council, Boy Scouts of America, and to Fifth Avenue Baptist Church.
