Cecil Lyle Ramsey, age 86, of Huntington, WV passed away peacefully from complications of Parkinson’s Disease on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born August 27, 1928 in Oak Hill, WV, son of the late Cecil Lyle Ramsey, Sr. and the late Henrietta Shore Ramsey. Lyle is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara Anspach Ramsey. They were married in Washington, D.C. on December 15, 1951. Also surviving are his two daughters and their husbands, Jean and Alan Simmons of Huntington, WV and Mary and Phil Krinkie of Shoreview, MN; grandchildren Mark (and wife Rebekah) Simmons of Cincinnati, OH, Elizabeth Simmons of Philadelphia, PA, and Elizabeth Krinkie of Shoreview, MN; great-grandchildren Eleanor (Elly) and James Simmons of Cincinnati, OH; brother, David Allen Ramsey of Barboursville, WV; and special caregiver and friend, Michael Staszewski of Huntington.  Lyle graduated from Huntington High School in 1946 as valedictorian of his class. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1951 with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, was a member of Tau Beta Pi engineering honorary and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He proudly served in the U. S. Army, entering service at Aberdeen (MD) Proving Ground in September 1951. Later he served at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL and at Ft. Bliss, TX. As a First Lieutenant, he was involved in the development of the U.S. guided missile program and was a company commander at Ft. Bliss. Lyle was awarded the National Defense Service Medal prior to his separation from service in December 1954. He and Barbara returned to Huntington, where he was employed at Huntington Alloys (INCO) for 33 years where he held numerous positions in metallurgy, operations, and process and quality control. After his retirement from INCO, he had several jobs, first with Region II Planning Commission, then with the Robert C. Byrd Institute for Flexible Manufacturing, prior to co-founding High Performance Heat Treating, where he served as the first President before retiring again. Lyle was an avid runner and fervent supporter of the Huntington YMCA. He was a Rotarian and a member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, where he and Barbara first met. He served in various leadership positions in the church and Sunday School classes. He was a kind, loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests consideration of contributions to the Jeff Ohl Scholarship Fund at Johnson Memorial or to Johnson Memorial Church. Visitation will be Friday night, November 7, from 6 – 8 pm at Klingel-Carpenter Funeral Home and funeral services will be conducted by Jack Lipphardt, Senior Pastor, at 10:00 am Saturday, November 8 at Johnson Memorial Church.
