Ira Harvey Herman
Ira Harvey Herman, 69, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 22, 2017 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Ira was born June 13, 1948 in Huntington, a son of the late Jacob and Bernice Gaffin Herman. Ira graduated with a Liberal Arts Degree from UCLA. He went on to establish and run a successful book publishing business for many years. A published author himself, Ira wrote several works of poetry and fiction over the years. He enjoyed reading, writing, golf and coin collecting, having started his collection with his father when he was five years old. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Herman Planchard and a nephew, Larry Planchard. Ira is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Claire Nudd; daughters Lauren Herman (Travis Cooper), Jessie (Zack) Owens, sons Aaron Herman and Joseph Herman; nephews Brian Planchard, Jeffrey (Vera) Planchard; a niece, Emily Planchard and his extended family. He was a very loved father, husband and friend, and will be deeply missed. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by Rabbi Jean Eglinton. Interment will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Noon until service time at the funeral home.
