Nancy Hope Wooten
Nancy Hope Gibson Wooten, 81, of Huntington, WV died Friday, December 15, 2017 at Community Hospice in Ashland, Ky. She was born March 19, 1936 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Clyde Marshall Gibson and Roxie Ellen Mers Gibson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Lawrence L. Taylor and Larry C. Wooten, and two sisters, Phyllis G. Cook and Jean G. Varney. She is survived by one daughter, Jean Ellen Bowen (Clint), and one son, Richard Marshall Taylor (Jami); five grandchildren, Amy Dimond, Kirk Dimond, Sara Covington, Stephen Sisler, and Bentley Sisler; four great-grandchildren, Blake Dimond, Brylie Dimond, Edward Covington and Piper Sisler; one sister, Mary Pauline Pollard (Jerald). Hope was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a Kentucky Colonel and was a past president of the Womens Auxiliary of El Hasa Shrine and Kentucky Colonels. She served as treasurer of the Huntington Cabell Republican Women, and was elected as their woman of the year for 2010. She was retired from the Federal Government having served 19 years with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and 13 years with the General Services Administration. A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017.
