Obituary

Robert de Gruyer White
(June 1, 1927 - December 3, 2017)

Robert de Gruyter White, 90, of Huntington, died Sunday, December 3, 2017 at The Woodlands Retirement Community.  Bob was born June 1, 1927, in Huntington, West Virginia the son of Robert Sevey White and Mary Noyes de Gruyter White.  He was also preceded in death by his only sister, Frances Stuart White. He attended Miller Elementary and Cammack Junior High schools. Graduated from Castle Heights Military Academy, Lebanon, TN., followed by service in the U S Army. He also graduated from the University of Michigan. His business career comprised 35 years in the investment community, all spent in Huntington.  Memberships included Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, Order of Kentucky Colonels, General Society of Mayflower Descendants, Order of First Families of Virginia, CityC1ub of Huntington and the Gypsy Club.  Bob’s extended family and friends would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Assisted Living Staff at Woodlands Retirement Community for their warm care and concern for Bob during his final weeks.  Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
