Miss Donzella M. (Donzie) Arbaugh
Miss Donzella M. (Donzie) Arbaugh, 65, of Barboursville went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 2, 1999, at the home of her niece, Edie. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 4, 1999, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Minister Walter Brewer. Burial in the Barboursville Cemetery. She was born July 3, 1934, in Cabell County, a daughter of the late Floyd and Edith Patterson Arbaugh. She was a member of Farmdale Church of Christ and the Barboursville Senior Ciitizens Association. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis (Whistle) Arbaugh and James Arbaugh. She is survived by three sisters and one brother-in-law, Geraldine (Jerrie) Beckett of Huntington, Madeliene and Chet Sheppard of Melbourne, Fla., and Kathleen Rayburn of Milton; one brother, Leo Arbaugh of Barboursville; several nieces and nephews; a loving and caring niece, Edith (Edie) Hanley; a special friend, Eva Watson; a very special friend and caregiver, Angie Smith; and her good nei
ghbors on Spencer Avenue.

Kenice Adkins, 70, of Milton, husband of Sarah Cart Adkins, died Monday, November 22, 1999 in St. Mary's Hospital. Also surviving are three daughters, Brenda Leigh Adkins of Manassas, Va., Teresa Jean Raines of Milton and Stacie Marie Adkins at home; and two sons, Kenice Eugene Adkins at home and Daniel Ray Adkins of Staunton Va. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton; burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

Alfred Ray Abbott
Alfred Ray Abbott, 72, of Huntington, passed away Saturday, November 6, 1999, at the Veterans Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, November 9, 1999, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Pastor Pete Davidson. Burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. He was born November 24, 1926, in Lincoln County, a son of the late John and Evona Frye Abbott. He retired from WV Department of Highways in Logan County as a top mechanic. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957 and was a member of the American Legion Post #0019 in Logan. He is survived by a lifelong friend and mother to his children, Margaret Crum of Huntington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and James Smith of Huntington, Linda and Joseph Sipocz of Myersville, Maryland; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Billy Abbott and David Abbott, both of Huntington, Johnny and Verina Abbott, James and Brandi Abbott, all of Hinesville, Georgia, Ronald and Kim Abbott of Hagerstown, Maryland; special friends, sister and brother-in-law to his children, Patty Ann and Perry Webb of Ranger, WV; twenty-one grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one almost here. Military graveside rites were conducted by V.F.W. Post #9738, Guyandotte. There are other special family members and friends who will miss you very much Ab. James Matthew Adams
James Matthew Adams, 72, of Milton, WV, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at his residence after an extended illness. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 23, 1999 at Lower Creek United Methodist Church, Milton with the Rev. Ted Nance and the Rev. Roby Fraley officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park. He was born Sept. 29, 1927, in Milton, WV, a son of the late Elijah and Virginia Shaffer Clagg Adams. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Marie Jenkins, and two brothers, Howard and Morris Adams. He was a retired truck driver for Clagg Lumber. He was a member of Lower Creek United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Dortha Yates Adams; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Stephen and Kathi Adams and John Matthew and Tina Adams, all of Milton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Teresa Adkins of Coal Grove, OH and Nancy and Larry Dillon of Milton; five sisters, Elsie Ferrell, Magdalene Burdette, Malinda Wine, and Margie Scarberry, all of Milton, and Mabel Beshears of Rome, GA; two brothers, Eugene Adams of Huntington and Joseph Moses Adams of Winifrede, WV; ten grandchildren, Joshua Adams, Stephany Black, Jennifer Bill, Katherine Dillon, Amanda Dillon, James Dillon, Jamie Adkins, Johnathan Adams, Alicia Adams, and Nikki Adams; six great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and neighbors. Mrs. Jessie Marie Adams, 69, of Ona, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999 at her home after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999 at the Beulah Ann Baptist Church, Ona, of which she was a member with Pastor Paul R. Meadows officiating. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Jessie was born in Cabell County on Nov. 20, 1929. She was a daughter of the late Alvin Henry and Shirley Chloe Floyd Williams. Jessie was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Herman W. Adams; one son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Brenda Adams of Ona; two grandchildren, Brian C. Adams and Angela Dawn Adams and a sister, Billie Rose Hagley, all of Ona. Heck Funeral Home, Milton was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services were conducted at noon Monday, Sept. 20, 1999 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel Barboursville, by Rev. Ray Adkins. Burial in Mays Cemetery, East Lynn. He was born Jan. 3, 1934 in Branchland, a son of the late Elba Adkins and Addie Mays Adkins. He was preceded in death by one son, Danny Adkins. He is survived by one son, Randy Adkins of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Randy’s mother, Dorothy Kutina of Branchland; two sisters, Elizabeth Tooley of Barboursville, and Doris Jean Tooley of Salt Rock, W.Va.; two brothers, Marion Adkins and Ollie Adkins, both of Huntington; grandchildren, Jeff and Faith Adkins; great-grandchild, Courtney Nicole Johnson.

Charles “Diesel” Ashworth, 58, of Milton husband of Mary Blake Ashworth, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999 at his residence. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, August 19, 1999 at Heck Funeral Home with the Rev. George Surgeon officiating. Burial in Bicker Cemetery, Barkers Ridge. He was born Jan. 3, 1941 in Ona, WV, son of the late Fleetis and Stella Rolfe Ashworth. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for T.A. Chapman. Survivors include his wife, Mary Blake Ashworth; four daughters, Kelly Ash, Donna Clagg and Billie Fisher, all of Milton, and Kathy Martin of Ona; two sons, Charles Donavon Ashworth, Jr. of Ona and Tim Fitzgerald Ashworth of Milton; one sister, Joyce Bevins of Chapman, KY; two brothers, Raymond and Sammy Ashworth, both of Milton; two grandsons, Eric Ash and Anthony Ashworth; four step granddaughters; three nieces; and two nephews.

Londel Glen Adkins, 57, of Wayne, WV, died Monday, April 12, 1999 at his residence after a battle with cancer. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 15, 1999 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. Carlos Gibson. Burial in Bowen Cemetery. He was born May 19, 1941 in Wayne, WV, a son of Rosella Gilkerson Adkins of Huntington and the late Delbert Reno Adkins. He was also proceeded in death by one son, Londel Glen Adkins, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Mary Adkins; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kim and Buddy Holley of Mayo, Fla., Kathy and Brent Gibson of Barboursville, and Rose Ann Adkins of Wayne; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Laura Adkins of Wayne; two sisters, Jean Blankenship and Rose Aileen Adkins, both of Huntington; two brothers, Carl Adkins and Delbert Adkins, both of Huntington; and seven grandchildren.

Arlie P. Ayers, 73, of Barboursville, died Tuesday, March 30, 1999. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 3, 1999 at the Wallace Funeral Rome & Chapel by the Rev. Craig Coster. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born July 26, 1925 in Hinton, W.Va., a son of the late Arlie P. and Margaret Leake Ayers, Sr. He was a retired mailroom supervisor at the Huntington State Hospital. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army, 104th Infantry Division in Europe and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #9738 and was a member of the American Legion #177 in Barboursville. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Wolfe Ayers, and his son Larry Dwain Ayers. He is survived by one grandson, Shawn Ayers of Barboursville; one granddaughter, Jennifer Carpenter of Chesapeake, Ohio; two sisters, Margaret Ann Simmons of Bluefield, Mary Francis House of Deland, Fla.; two brothers, John Ayers and Jimmy Ayers, both of Bluefield; and three great-grandchildren, Jason, Elizabeth, and Taylor. He was born April 17, 1932, in Cabell County, a son of the late Elba arid Addie Mays Adkins. He was a retired owner and president of Adkins & Son Termite Pest Control. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Denise Ramey. He is survived by his wife, Nola M. Gue Adkins; two daughters, Rhonda Johnson, and her husband, David Johnson, of Cheshire, MA, and their children, Kendra Nicole Hartlage of Boston, MA, Sarah Lynne Hartlage of Wisconsin, and Bruce Allen Hartlage of Adams, MA; Penny Kricia Preston, and her daughter, Kricia Denise Preston, both of Huntington; one son, Doliver Ray Adkins, and Margaret Ann Adkins, mother of Farrah Ann Adkins, and Doliver Ray Adkins Jr., all of Huntington. Also surviving are Denise's children, Spc. He was born July 31, 1922 in Preston County, a son of the late Joseph William and Ollie Mae Webster Arnold. He was a contractor and a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Jess Arnold. He is survived by his wife, Silvlean Davis Arnold; three daughters, Becky Leicher of Kenova, Melanie Barnett of W. Jefferson, Ohio, and Virginia Justice of Ironton; two sisters, Bernice Weiford of Milton, and Josephine Desautell of Kaleva, Mich.; six grandchildren, Shawnda Arnold Martin, Kailah and Chris Douglas, Brandon Arnold, Adam and Viktoria Lewis; and one great-grandson, Cade Martin.
